The German Ambassador to Canada

Sabine Sparwasser

Sabine Sparwasser was appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Canada in September 2017.

Prior to that, she was Assistant Deputy Minister for Africa, Asia, Latin America, Near and Middle East in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, and also Special Representative of the German Federal Government for Afghanistan and Pakistan

She has had extensive experience in Canada. From 2009 to 2013, she was German Consul General in Toronto. From 2003 to 2006, she was Chargé d’Affaires / Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Ottawa. And from 2002 to 2003, she was Exchange Officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ottawa.

The Swiss Ambassador to Canada

The primary mission of this representation is to promote and protect the interests of Switzerland and of its citizens, not only in Canada but in the Bahamas as well. Its role is also to foster the excellent relations that exist between Switzerland and these two countries.

The embassy website offers a broad range of information on its activities in the fields of politics, economy and trade, as well as social, cultural, scientific, consular and visa matters. In order to make administrative procedures easier, forms are available online for you to download. Also you will find some information on Swiss associations and Swiss clubs in Canada.

The embassy’s role is also to promote trade activities between Canada and Switzerland, in cooperation with the Swiss Business Hub Canada with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.
